What has changed

CommunityLatestSeptember 3, 2026

Global Chat: one room, every Nexara user, live.

A new public room every signed-in user can post to and read live, plus a fix for Stripe checkout silently failing to open in some browsers.

  • New Global Chat: post and see messages appear live via realtime updates — find it in the Apps launcher.
  • Your name, avatar, and identity are set by the server from your real account, so nobody can spoof another user or fake an Admin badge.
  • A light rate limit (5 messages per 10 seconds) keeps the room from being spammed.
  • Fixed Stripe checkout sometimes silently failing to open a payment tab at all — especially on Safari, where a popup blocker could kill it with no error shown. Checkout now redirects the page directly instead of opening a new tab.
  • The post-checkout redirect back to chat now shows a confirmation toast and refreshes your usage instead of doing nothing.
TransparencySeptember 2, 2026

The Info page now explains everything, honestly.

A full per-model pricing table, an explanation of dynamic model routing, the open-source stance, the $1-per-billing charity contribution, and the current project goal all now live on one page.

  • The complete per-model Compute pricing table (all available models, in/out/cached rates, context windows) is now shown directly on /info, not just in Docs.
  • New sections explain how requests are routed between model providers, why there's no fixed routing map, and why the backend isn't fully open-source — the security-relevant parts (database rules, pricing logic, CLI source) are still public.
  • New sections cover the $1-per-billing charity contribution and the current community funding goal.
  • Plan and usage limits were simplified across every plan card, FAQ, and usage meter: it's now just a daily allowance plus a weekly hard cap — the old 5-hour rolling window and monthly grant are gone.
  • The billing overage surcharge was cut from a flat 25% to a flat 5%.
NexaraNotebookSeptember 1, 2026

NexarNotebook grew into a real research studio.

Notebook can now research a topic on the web on its own, and generates eight kinds of saved output — slides, flashcards, a scored quiz, a report, a data table, an image, a real two-host audio overview, and an animated slideshow.

  • New research mode: type a topic and Notebook searches the web and adds real results as sources, each linking back to its original page — on top of uploading your own files.
  • New Studio panel generates and saves eight output types so they survive a refresh: Slides, Flashcards, an interactive scored Quiz, a Report, a Data table, an Image, a synthesized two-host Audio overview, and an Animation.
  • The Animation output now builds a real slideshow from actual AI-generated images with pan/zoom/crossfade and captions, instead of abstract motion graphics.
  • Added a model picker so you can choose what powers chat and generation inside a notebook.
  • Fixed a bug where Notebook chat and generation silently failed for everyone with a missing-auth-token error, and fixed the resizable Sources/Studio panels rendering only a few pixels wide.
DesignSeptember 1, 2026

A new look, top to bottom.

Nexara moved to a new warm, editorial design system with a new logo, new typography, and a redesigned Settings and sidebar — plus a new Donate page and community giving goals.

  • A full re-theme: new color palette, new serif/sans typography pairing, and a new node-network Nexara logo across favicons, app icons, and every branded surface.
  • Settings was visually redesigned with a bigger shell, clearer active-section highlighting, and hover states throughout.
  • New Donate page for one-time contributions via Stripe, with a Community Goals section — launched already funding a dedicated computer for Nexara Cowork.
  • New branded loading and thinking indicators used across the whole app.
MobileSeptember 1, 2026

A dedicated mini-chat for the Android power button.

A new chrome-less chat surface built specifically for the Android overlay — just messages and an input box, with real file attachments.

  • New minimal /assistant page — no sidebar, no top nav — replacing what used to be the entire app squeezed into a small floating card.
  • Real file-attach support (PDF/text extraction) in this mini assistant.
  • Fixed a crash that could freeze the overlay, and fixed it hanging on a blank screen on first open by loading from the locally saved session instead of a network check.
  • Hardened the overlay so cookie/crash/toast popups can no longer render inside it and break the layout, the message box now grows with your text, and a visible message appears if a reply somehow comes back empty.
SecuritySeptember 1, 2026

Pasted API keys are now caught automatically.

If a message looks like it contains an API key, Nexara now masks it in the transcript and asks you to confirm before it can actually be sent.

  • Detects common key formats (OpenAI, Stripe, Google, GitHub, Slack, AWS, and similar) as you type or paste.
  • The key is masked in the chat transcript, and you get an explicit consent warning before sending.
Games & ModelsAugust 31, 2026

Mob Slayer became a real idle RPG.

The clicker minigame was rebuilt into a deep idle RPG with 25 enemy types, a skill tree, and prestige, and new models joined the catalog through NVIDIA NIM.

  • Mob Slayer rebuilt: 25 enemy types across 8 regions, recurring boss waves, 13 upgrade paths, gear with rarities, a skill tree, prestige/ascension, quests, achievements, and offline earnings.
  • The minigames hub (Mob Slayer, Chess, Ludo) got a flatter, cleaner visual pass.
  • New models: DeepSeek V4 Pro and Kimi K3, both served through a new NVIDIA NIM connection.
Honest reversalAugust 29, 2026

Chat ads are gone — the chat is ad-free again.

After trying two different ad systems in chat, both were removed the same week. The advertiser portal and the Free Compute earning page remain live for anyone already using them.

  • All in-chat ad units (sponsored cards and third-party fill ads) were removed completely — the chat interface itself shows no ads of any kind right now.
  • The advertiser portal and the /earn Free Compute page (watch or click ads to earn Compute) are unaffected and still live.
ReliabilityAugust 24, 2026

Replies stopped vanishing.

Fixed the root cause of assistant replies that could stream in fully, then disappear on reload or on another device — plus fixes for silent model switching and builds that hung with no output.

  • Fixed replies vanishing on reload or on another device — the real cause was messages saving with empty ids; replies now save immediately when they finish instead of behind a slower step that could get skipped.
  • Fixed the model occasionally switching silently to a different one after clicking Retry or answering a clarifying question.
  • Fixed website builds silently hanging for 5 minutes with no output or visible progress.
Health & SafetyAugust 23, 2026

A built-in Calorie Coach, and a stronger safety layer.

Every account now gets a personal Calorie Coach with its own dashboard, alongside a real-world-harm safety layer enforced the same way across every Nexara client, and protection for pinned chats.

  • New Calorie Coach: a built-in assistant every signed-in adult account gets automatically, with a short onboarding and a personalized daily calorie/water target.
  • The Coach has a real dashboard — a calorie ring, macro totals, a water tracker, an editable meal list, a weight tracker with trend history, and 7-day history.
  • New Calorie Counter skill, usable in any chat: upload a food photo for a calorie/macro estimate with an honest uncertainty range.
  • Highlighting text in a message now shows "Reply to this" and "Ask in new chat" actions.
  • Pinned chats can no longer be accidentally deleted, including by "Clear all chats" — unpin first.
  • Added a server-side safety layer, enforced identically across every Nexara client, that keeps refusals on real-world violence or self-harm from being bypassed by in-chat instructions or roleplay framing.
  • Fixed a privacy leak where a public share link could expose the full contents of a pasted file, not just its name.
CreationAugust 22, 2026

NexaraDesign launches, and site builds get serious.

A new frame-by-frame AI animation studio, plus website builds that can now span multiple pages, fact-check themselves against real research, and ask for your approval before they're done.

  • New NexaraDesign tool: describe an animation and get a real, scrubbable, keyframed scene you can export as video or image frames.
  • Website builds are no longer limited to one page — the AI can plan and build a full multi-page site plus supporting files (README, sitemap, robots.txt, and more).
  • New approval step after a build: an explicit Ship it / Deny / Request changes prompt, with notes and reference images for revisions.
  • Presentation and Slides builds now run a mandatory fact-check pass against real web research before delivery.
  • Sidebar v2: an Apps grid launcher with pinnable favorites replaced the old plain dropdown list.
New surfacesAugust 21, 2026

Games arrive, and NexComputer becomes NexaraComputer.

Ask Nexara to build a real playable HTML5 game, save it offline on Android, and NexComputer was renamed and expanded with dozens more native tools.

  • New Games feature: ask for a complete playable HTML5 game — real game loop, win/lose/score state, keyboard and touch controls — built directly in chat.
  • On Android, games can be saved to an offline Game Library for playing without an internet connection.
  • NexComputer renamed to NexaraComputer, with 51 additional native tools registered for real tool-calling.
  • Fixed the Windows/Android download page occasionally serving stale installer files.
Voice & ModelsAugust 20, 2026

Nexara can read replies aloud.

Assistant messages can now be read aloud with a natural synthesized voice, new models joined through a new AgentRouter connection, and normal-chat overage billing was fixed.

  • New read-aloud (text-to-speech) for assistant messages.
  • New models via a new AgentRouter connection: GPT-5.6 Sol, Claude Opus 4.8, and Claude Opus 5.
  • Fixed a stray debug flag that had silently disabled overage billing on regular chat (website builds already billed correctly) — it's now correctly enforced.
  • Per-model Thinking/effort controls, live-verified per model family.
Accounts & ReliabilityAugust 20, 2026

Kid Accounts, fewer errors, and a smoother experience.

Parents can now create a safe, study-focused account for their kids, premium models stopped getting incorrectly blocked, and premium requests now retry automatically instead of giving up early.

  • New — Kid Accounts: parents can create a safe, study-focused account for their kids, complete with its own sign-in ID, a kid-friendly chat experience, and usage that automatically scales with your plan.
  • Fixed — Model availability: premium models no longer get incorrectly blocked with a false "not available" message — the only real limit now is running out of usage or credits.
  • Improved — Reliability: premium model requests now retry automatically instead of giving up early, and a rare bug where some responses came back completely blank has been fixed.
  • New — Update announcements: occasional popups now surface new features and launches as they ship.
Image generationAugust 19, 2026

Ask, and Nexara draws it — for real.

Nexara can now generate real AI images right in chat — ask it to create, draw, or design a picture, illustration, logo, or artwork and it comes back as an actual generated image, not a description of one.

  • New create_image tool: describe what you want and Nexara generates a real picture inline, with download and open-in-new-tab.
  • $0.0125 per generated image, charged to your $ credits only when generation actually succeeds.
  • Site builds now search the web first when the brief needs real, current facts (a specific product, model, person, or event) instead of relying only on training memory — then weaves what it finds into the build.
  • Every build now runs under an explicit quality mandate — no rushing, full effort regardless of model — plus an optional double-check pass that reviews the finished page for real improvements, at half the normal Compute cost. Toggle it in Settings → AI & Responses.
Chat & BuildAugust 19, 2026

Watch Nexara build, not just guess what it's doing.

Site builds now show a live, step-by-step log of what's actually happening, the preview got a mobile/tablet/desktop toggle and a refresh button, and the mode/model picker moved right next to Send.

  • A live build log shows each step as it happens — "Created Hero section", "Edited Contact section", "Ran build check" — and collapses into a one-line summary once the build finishes.
  • The live HTML preview now has a mobile / tablet / desktop width toggle and a manual refresh button.
  • The mode and model picker now sit right next to Send instead of floating in the middle of the composer.
ChatAugust 19, 2026

See what the model is actually thinking.

Reasoning models now show their real thinking trace, not just an elapsed-time counter, and starting a new chat lets you type and send in one step instead of clicking through an empty page first.

  • The live "thinking" indicator now shows the model's actual reasoning text as it streams, collapsible, plus a click-to-expand "Thought for Ns" after it finishes.
  • The /chat landing page now has a real composer — type your first message and send it directly instead of clicking a separate "New chat" button first.
  • Raw engineering narration ("Firing up N parallel builders...") no longer leaks into the chat bubble during a build — the live build log already shows that.
NexaraClawAugust 19, 2026

Your agents just got real hands.

NexaraClaw agents can now operate the desktop, control apps like IntelliJ, send email, and learn new skills the more you use them — plus a redesigned workspace and a way to build your own visualization front-end for them.

  • PC control: agents can launch apps, manage windows, and drive the mouse/keyboard when you permit it — destructive actions always ask first and are blocked outright in Plan mode.
  • Agent skill-learning: agents save a reusable playbook after actually verifying a new way of doing something, and recall it automatically next time — they get better at using apps over time instead of staying static.
  • Email tools (draft, send, read, analyze) and IDE control for IntelliJ, PyCharm, WebStorm, and VS Code.
  • A starter agent library — niche research with a 6-field scoring rubric, Etsy product design with Printify, Fiverr fulfillment, TikTok content, and video production — all human-approved before anything publishes or spends money.
  • A redesigned NexaraClaw workspace that now matches Nexara's own visual language.
  • A new Visualization SDK: build your own .exe that shows an agent as a live character and talks back to it, over a local, opt-in, token-gated connection. See the docs.
PerformanceAugust 19, 2026

Faster to the first word, lighter on Compute.

Cut the pre-response wait before a reply starts streaming, and reduced how much of your Compute goes toward re-sending information the model already used.

  • Provider health checks that run before a reply starts now happen in parallel instead of one after another.
  • Shortened how long a single unresponsive provider key can hold up your message before Nexara moves on.
  • The first message in a new chat no longer waits on a separate title-generation call before your reply starts.
  • Older web search results in a long conversation are now trimmed to title and link instead of resending the full snippet text on every later turn.
Compute limitsAugust 14, 2026

One shared Compute allowance across everything.

Nexara treats usage as one shared Compute allowance across models, images, reasoning, compaction, and tool work.

  • The unified meter counts model effort, generated tokens, image analysis, automatic compaction, reasoning, and tool/agent work with model-aware weights.
  • Reaching a daily or weekly allowance stops use until the reset — no borrowing from the next allowance.
  • The policy is enforced by the shared Nexara service, so web, Windows, Android, NexaraCode, Modeler, and NexaraClaw stay in sync.
Modeler ModeAugust 14, 2026

Modeler just got a much bigger vocabulary.

Modeler can now build with 35 additional shapes and use 50 new AI modeling tools through the same operation system as the editor.

  • 40 shape types are now available, including torus knots, capsules, polyhedra, prisms, lathes, tubes, hearts, stars, gears, and more.
  • The AI can transform, align, distribute, array, mirror, shade, edit, join, explode, and manage model objects using 50 additional tools.
  • The same tool path powers the toolbar and AI so generated operations behave like hand-built edits.
Chat polishAugust 14, 2026

The little panels got out of the way.

Usage, queued messages, account actions, and answer modes now use tighter, calmer surfaces that match the compact model selector.

  • Usage now shows the daily Compute allowance and the weekly cap when expanded.
  • Queued messages are compact, removable, and can be steered back into the composer.
  • Internal pages such as Plans, Updates, and Downloads now open in the current tab.
DownloadsAugust 14, 2026

Nexara now ships for Windows and Android.

A native beta desktop app and a direct APK install join the CLI on a redesigned Downloads page — Windows front and center, with Android and the CLI right below it.

  • Nexara for Windows: a signed beta installer for Windows 10 and 11, with quiet background updates.
  • Nexara for Android: a direct beta APK install — not on the Play Store yet.
  • Usage & limits moved out of Settings into its own quick panel from the account menu.
Model selectionAugust 14, 2026

The best model is now at the top.

The picker now sorts providers and models by independent benchmark performance, so the strongest option is always the first one you see.

  • Claude Opus 5, Fable 5, and GPT-5.6 Sol lead the catalog in benchmark order.
  • Every provider opens with its strongest available model—not the newest entry added to Nexara.
  • The compact desktop and mobile pickers now share the exact same order.
Account menuAugust 13, 2026

A calmer home for your account.

Your account menu is now a focused, compact panel for usage, settings, billing, downloads, and gifts.

  • Clear account identity, plan status, and shortcuts in one quiet menu.
  • Designed to feel at home beside the compact model selector.
Mobile polishAugust 12, 2026

Nexara now feels built for your phone.

Chat, pricing, the model picker, and navigation were tightened up for small screens without squeezing the interface.

  • A smaller, easier-to-dismiss chat sidebar.
  • A one-screen first-chat experience with better prompt suggestions.
  • Mobile-safe headers and pricing layouts with no overlapping controls.
ReliabilityAugust 11, 2026

When something breaks, you can tell us instantly.

Crash recovery now gives you a direct way to send the useful details to the Nexara team, while keeping your conversation safe.

  • Friendlier recovery screens when a conversation cannot open right away.
  • One-action crash reporting for faster fixes.
AppearanceAugust 9, 2026

Spring got a complete refresh.

A softer, deeper spring palette and a more deliberate visual system make the theme easy on the eyes all day.

  • Improved contrast, calmer surfaces, and a more balanced settings experience.
  • A seasonal look that still keeps conversations front and center.
